Week 9 T1 reading

 

This week in the kh ( kauri hub ) we our topic was to discover the world! 

1st: Learn, slide 1-2 was full of chilli 1-4 books we had to read 10 minutes each day for the week.

2nd:Learn, we had to choose 5 unfamiliar words and fill it out in the table: the word, search up the definition on google and use it in a short sentence.

3rd: Learn, before reading the text Harwoods Hole have a think about what the text might be about by looking at the tittle.

4th: Task 1: read the text from the book presented on the slide and answer the following question: The cavers used a winch to climb into the cave. What did they use it for? Then design your own winch using paper, tinker cad or google drawings, I chose tinker cad. ( My winch creation will be on the next slide. )

5th: Task 2: have a look at the picture and spot the similarities and differences between 1958 and now for caving clothing and present it using the venn diagram.

6th: Brain break, watch a video to see how caves are formed.

7th: Learn how to figure out unknown words in texts using strategies like: using the picture ( if their is any ) and point to where you think that unknown word is in the picture. 2nd strategy would be to find a synonym: try to replace that unknown word with another word and think: does it make sense? 3rd strategy: use base words: kind of similar to synonym, then using those strategy's use them in sentences given to you.

There will be extra fast finishers at the last slide for reading.

I really enjoyed this because..we got to use tinkercad and make our creation come to life!

Summer learning journey #1 kick start

For summer learning journey's #1 task kick start, we went ahead and choose one photo to colour in and used the wonderful colours to decorate it here I chose a spaceship landing on earth, I decided to add some unusual colours you would not likely add into the picture and vola! my creation.

In this task we coloured a picture ( online ) and used this template to insert our own creation vs the original masterpiece. And I had also listed down below 4 interesting facts about the original pictures meaning.

This task was pretty fun!... there were a variety of different space pictures to choose from, + a variety of colours to!

I look further to competing in more summer learning journey tasks and hoping to place in either: 1st, 2nd or maybe even 3rd

Recently on the slide I am working on, on page 32 I found out that the school asked if we could create a new game and if we won they'd post one of the gif trophies onto our blog!

6 Week 6 T4 distance learning

 

Hello, my name is Dani and right now I will be giving you a conclusion of what I have been learning in the past week. First off on slide 2 we did some reading about the eco house and the nga motu house, after that, we used our knowledge on what features did the nga motu house have and the eco house have, then what features did they both have? Then on slide 4 we had a go on creating our own island by thinking if we mashed those two houses together, what would the new invention be, slide three is actually similar to slide five instead, we think about the elements of each house. We had already finished learning about the two houses so it was time so move onto something new. We started slide six with some reading from chilli 1-4 and we started focusing on math from slide 8-23 and on slide 24 we had 20 minutes of matific. Time for a steam challenge! todays challenge was re-creating a transport that already exits and adjusting it, Or, making a completely new type of transport, so we did some planning, then used an app to transform our imaginations, onto the screen! And page 28 we wrote a short but fascinating jingle or a slogan and then create a poster or billbored to advertise your new product! (I used canva for this one) and they even gave us a spare slide t put the links to our creations then from page 31-32 we did some creates 1 slide for school the other for home, and some extras for super speedy workers.

Is kapa haka good for us?

 Kapa haka is an excellent way to practice our traditional dance to represent our country aterareo (new zealand) In many different ways but the most popular Is of course our kapa haka 

Firstly kapa haka Is a good way to express our feelings and the way we move, It shows and means a lot, like they say words are stronger than our actions and who knows they might actually be, kapa haka Is also a very excellent way to express our culture to represent who we are, Its like introducing yourself except in a way of a dance.

Secondly kapa haka can help our muscles get strong by exercising How, the stroger we force our bodies the stronger our actions become and our muscles too, kapa haka represents force and confidence witch really represents who we are and they have a lot of meaning too for example… The boys starting position where they kneel down and grip their arm to another, that shows,represents and means they are warriors.

Lastly kapa haka Is also a way to show a happy pride people from aeotereo new zeleand will be really proud to represent Their country and show pride to all and I think that’s how the history started of as kapa haka who knows I could be right.

Today in the kauri hub online we had to post a piece of writing to persuade someone about If kapa haka was good or bad I did three reasons why It was good and the reason we did this or not was because we do kapa haka at our school and wanted to see If we wanted to lean more of that so by writing a piece Is placing your vote I voted yes what about you?

Culture significance

🆃oday In the kh (kauri hub) we did some leaning about cultures but specially we did It online due to the covid lately. we had a meeting at 9:00 and our teacher discussed and went through our work and even got to answer some questions then we made a copy and started editing, the first slide contained books listed in rows chilli 1-4 since I was In chilli four I read 3 pieces of texts because that's what I needed to do, the second slide contained 3 questions and you had to answer using your point of view and have backup towards your answer I also added a link to the slide connecting to my answer so you can have some inspiration, the third slide contained a chart with one column red orange and red It was supposed to be based off a traffic light In each column there were specific things you needed to type in like words I know,words I think I know and words to look up, so I filled them all In and go ready to go to slide 4, on slide four It had picture of flip grid with the link to flip grid (the teachers accidentally put In the wrong link so go to papakura class sites kauri hub and you'll get it.) and you had share a new word that you learned from your traffic light chart, the 5 slide had a writing topic you needed to write about it was about Is kapa haka good for us I will post my writing onto my blog so stay tuned, next on slide 6 we had a maths activity we were given 3 questions like 29+8,123+47 and 247+363 I answered them on the slide and we had been given a link to a maths maker and what you had to do Is you had to make up a question of any sort show 2 ways to solve your question then use pictures to show your thinking have a go at my question how many ways can you solve It? the next two slides had maths problems one you HAD to do and one you COULD do, then on the next slide the next slide contained a photo of matific and a link to It and you had to do It for 20 minutes so I worked on matific for 20 minutes then gained access to the next slide,The next slide had 6 options you could choose from there were a lot but you only needed to do two so I chose to transfer my English name Into Chinese and learn how to make my own poi, I added a slide and put In photo of how to write and pronounce my name and my dancing with my homemade poi! the last and lucky slide were extras for fast finishers witch I will definitely be doing because I completed my work In a day! there was also a google meet at 1 pm and over their It was being recorded we played a little kahoot and asked some questions to help us carry on our leaning faster.

I really enjoyed this because...we got to get slide that contained multiple and different fun activities witch was really enjoyable and helpful at the same time!

Frog Facts.

 

Today in the khh (kahikatia hub) we did a project about frogs, We had a little tutorial about frogs by the teacher Then we had two research some specific stuff so then we created a slide and there our adventure waits! we each did our own frog facts,habitats and photos then we finished It off witch the specific research we needed to do like their diets,how are frogs going extinct,how did 3 of NZ's native frogs become extinct and etc (and so on).

I really enjoyed this because...we got to do some really fun research about frogs and It also will help save the extinction of frogs witch are animals and personally I love animals.

Music or sports what do you chose?

 

Today in the kh (kauri hub) we did a slide about sports or  music what do you prefer? the first slide contained a link that you needed to read about the Olympics and answer the questions on the side like... do you think sport helps people lean how to work together in a positive way,are team sports better than individual sports (use examples to back up your thinking) and etc the second slide contained some questions you needed to answer by using screencastify or make a web profile using google drawings I decided to do a web profile using google drawings and put the link in the slide the 3-4 slides had books you needed to read listed chilli 1,2,3 and the 4th slide contained two posters as an example and basically what you needed to do is you needed to create and infographic poster or a graph that shares different point of views and statistics about sports and finally the last slide contained 1-4 videos all about different types of sport and what you needed to do is that you needed to imagine you are one of the players in the video and tell what you feel,think,touch and see.

I really enjoyed this because...you get to imagine you are one of the players and see their view point of what they really see.

Zoos or wild

Today in the kh (kauri hub) our topic was balance so we focused on how to make things a balanced life and so we firstly started off with animals the question for today was... should we have zoos? we got a copy of the slide now it was time to place our decisions the first slide contained videos and a link about zoo debate you had to read about the good and bad side towards zoo's and listen to what other think then we got asked some questions all about zoo debate like what is your view about zoo's and why do you think that way,If you could asked the owner of a zoo some questions what might they be and etc the next slide contained some books to chilli 1-4 all about animals then the next slide had a link to flipgrid with some questions you need to answer while making the video on flipgrid then on the next slide there was a chart labbled name and meaning/what it is and then down the name line it has zoo safari marine park and etc basically what you had to do is research what they mean on google then write it down in the meaning/what it is then on the next slide there were 1-7 sentences and a box filled with words you had to read the sentences then fill out the missing words that had been placed in the box then on the next slide you had to create a picture of your perfect habitat for an animal or animals and think about things like what shelter does it need entertainment,toys and etc then click a picture of the dlo you created and upload it onto the next slide.

I really enjoyed this because...you got to create your own perfect habitat for your very own animal!

stories,dance and culture

 

today In the kh (kauri hub) we did an activity about stories,dance and culture the first and second slide had books with chilli  the audience one,two,three and four I always read chilli four so I red it. the 3rd slide had a DLO example and how to infer a picture 1st you get the evidence from the text then use that towards what you know then make your inference. on the next slide (4th slide) it had different pictures of animals and adventures and you had to infer and create a new slide to show how you inferred using the same steps. the 5th slide also had a photo expect it was different it had a boy holding water next the the tap with a surprised face you also had to infer what he is trying to tell. then on the 7th slide (final slide) you could create a dlo there were some videos links on the slide the top had songs and the bottom had dances basically what you needed to do is research and create a dance or song based on a cultral story it could be a story that you read this week, they also left a example in a link, the other choice was recreating a haka or cultural dance you want to practise and share.

I really enjoyed this because...It was really fun recreating or creating a dance or a song!

If I could be any animal what would I be?

 If I could be any animal I would be a alpha wolf alpha is a rank and wolf is an animal the alpha wolf is the leader of the pack a pack is a group of somethings. There are 9 ranks the 9th rank is omega they eat last they are baby sitters also stress relievers the 8th ranks is kappa kappas are the lead hunters in the pack they run the hunts when alphas or betas tell them to and keep the pack well fed and on diet the 7th rank is a lotas I have no clue what they do so I cant explain, the 6th ranks is zetas zetas are like betas but more “intelligent” and are the alphas left hand the 5th one is epsilon they are very villiont when rough and the only listen to gammas or alphas when under command or rough they can become dangerous hunting machines the 4th rank is gamma they are under the betas command they act like leader in fights and are strong and fast in battle, when its under the alphas command It can transform other wolfs into werewolf known as epsilons the 3rd rank is delta it on the same level as gamma but they might be under alpha and betas although they are higher up ranking than other wolfs they take control of the spars because they are to busy the 2nd rank is beta they are second in command they can wait for the alpha to die and take lead or  challenge the alpha to a brawll and last but not least the 1st is alpha they are leaders and get to do anything.

today in the kh (kauri hub) we did a piece of writing about animals it could be writing about catching a suspect that was an animal or say what animal you would want to be I picked the piece of writing what animal I wanted to be and I picked a wolf I explained what type of wolf I wanted to be and types of wolfs there are

today in the kh (kahakatia hub) we did an arts rotation and we did some tivavae art!

Family and friends

 

Today in the kh (kauri hub) we did an activity about family and friends on the first slide there were books for us to read then we needed to find 5 spelling patterns to ough aught and ight and find 5  prefix for pre dis and mis. the next slide we had to find 3 synonyms for joy balanced and fairness then write 3 antonyms for ignorant disrespectful and miserable. the next slide had a chart with numbers to 1-15 and put in any 15 words you can think of then use the crossword generator the link is in the slide and use the words you thought of and make it a word search. the next thing was a create and you had to make a kahoot about synonyms and antonyms and make 1 question about that using your words you can think of. last but not least you can choose one of the examples shown on the slide and create a piece of art of what is happening in the story I made a animation using google slides chose the first paragraph and left the link there on the slide for whoever goes to my blog checks it out they can have access to my art.
